1997 Ford Taurus SHO

Notables:

  • August 1999: Winner of "Gold Class Award" in the SHO Registry 10th Anniversary Convention's car show. (Stock class)
  • This car ran Road Atlanta on August 5th, 1999.  It performed superbly. The only problem was pretty bad brake fade which I plan to correct before reintroducing it to a road course. I was able to pull a top speed of 115-120 on the straights and maintain 45-65 MPH through the turns. (Turn 7's 90 degree right hander being the slowest)

Specifications:

  • 3.4L DOHC V-8 (Cosworth Block, Yamaha head work and internals)
  • 235 Horsepower
  • Active suspension adjusts from bump eliminating "around the town" driving to "road-course stiff" racing mode according on your current driving habits.
  • 16 " Wheels and 225-60R16 Good Year Eagle RSA tires*
  • Doug Lewis (Ford Performance Specialists) transmission & shift kit.
  • Tires have since been changed to better cost/better performing Kumho brand.
  • Best of all -- enough room for the family.
  • This car really is a sleeper. It's quite fast without standing out too much in a crowd.
