Note, because this was a business trip that took me to both Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, Missouri this entry is duplicated for both states. Eventually as I see different parts of both states these two entries will start to diverge.
2005 - I visited Kansas City (Kansas & Missouri) on a business trip. Like most short trips, I didn't have that much time to explore, but I was there long enough to get some impressions of the place. The thing that stood out in my mind the most was that Kansas is VERY flat. If not for the buildings and other ground structures you feel like you could see forever.
Kansas is also prone to Tornados. We had one tornado warning while I was there. I got a bit concerned, but I didn't let it panic me too much. (Growing up in a coastal community I'm used to hurricanes so I guess big wind doesn't bother me all that much.).
Most memorable experience: I enjoyed the wide selection of restaurants in Kansas City. I visited Pizzeria Uno twice (we don't have one of these in Atlanta as of yet), and ate at a very nice Italian restaurant on my 3rd night. So ... unlike many cities I visited I didn't go hungry. I'm not sure what kind of "tourist" attractions Kansas City offers, but I didn't have that much time to go exploring anyway.
