I've been to Colorado about three times in my life.
The first time was during a Boy Scout trip to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. This was around 1984 or 1985. We had flown into Denver and spent a few days in the Colorado mountains. We spent some time touring the area and spent a night in Colorado Springs. The high light of this part of the trip was the trek to the top of Pikes Peak. (14,000+ feet!) See my "New Mexico" entry for more information on this trip.
The other two times that I was in Colorado were during flight layovers in the Denver airport. During the first layover I had a few hours to kill so I left the airport and briefly got to see Denver. During the second layover I was returning to Atlanta from Southern California. When I left California it was in the high 80's (apx. 31C) so I was dressed in shorts. It was snowing in Denver. I wasn't going outside.

I visited Denver for a business trip. I didn't have a rental car so I didn't have too much ability to explore. I was able to see the beautiful snow capped mountains on my way from the new airport to the hotel & office. The air is clean and crisp where I am. I understand that the air has gotten somewhat polluted around the downtown part of the city but I was unable to witness or experience this myself. The people here seem very friendly, even by southern standards. :-)
As a skier I could get used to this place if it were not for the relatively high cost of living.
