UPDATE: In mid 2006 I spent a week in Medford Oregon on a consulting job. I was surprised with the fruit trees in Oregon. Forgive my ignorance but I simply didn't expect to see citrus groves that far north. During my trip I got ripped off for $200 by some less-than-kind folks whom I befriended and trusted. Oh well, another one of life's lessons that makes people more cynical. I think the experience spoiled my view of Oregon to a certain extent regardless of how I try to not let it.
I visited the airport in Portland, Oregon in November 2005. I was on a return flight from Asia. Normally I fly through Detroit or Minneapolis on these flights so Portland was a change for me. That said: It was a pleasant change. The airport seemed a bit more slow paced than the others I just mentioned. The US Immigration and Customs officers were pleasant and professional as well.
Overall I spent a few hours in this airport. I got to look outside at the nice landscape for a bit. It looks like a pleasant place. Hopefully I'll be able to get back and visit at some point in the future.
